Think to yourself for just a second, do you like the picture of your face on your school ID? Does it bother you and disgust you to the point where you want nobody to look at it, not even yourself? Most students around school dread their ID picture, sometimes even covering it up or trying to slip it down their shirt. There are some students that do not mind their ID or just do not like wearing something over their neck.
So why do so many students hate their ID pictures? For starters, many students talk about who was taking the picture and how they treat the students. People have heard and discussed about students talking about the photographers being rude and uncaring about how the job is done or how the picture looks, only seeking job completion. Focusing on the technical aspects of bad pictures, they tell the students to look in certain ways that may affect how the student looks in general, concerning their ‘good sides’ and ‘bad sides’ of their face. The outcome of this ruins the idea of a picture day and how you are supposed to look good, making the students upset. Another reason the students hate the way their ID’s look is because of the actual quality of the picture. The pictures have always distorted the way the face looks, it looks like the face is very pixelated and bad looking.
The actual quality of the picture is not always the cause for students to be upset about their ID pictures. They may also just be embarrassed or self conscious about how they look, especially on picture day. Picture day is the day that everyone has to look good for their picture. It is not uncommon for teenagers to dislike or even hate how they look. After all, teenagers are the most common age group to be anxious and insecure about their face and self-image. Some people think it is a joke when one says their photo looks ugly, but it may actually be how they feel inside or maybe how they felt that day. People should respect other people’s pictures and pictures of themselves, poor self image isn’t good for anyone.
