Spring Sports Review

The Eagle’s Eye asked the spring sports what their goal and plan is for this year.The spring sports are softball, baseball, boy’s volleyball, boy’s tennis, girl’s tennis, track and field. The first sport we interviewed was softball. We asked Ms.Huckins, what are their goals for this year. She said “to get them ready for competing at varsity level and show them how to play at a higher level this year”. Softball this year played in the Agua Fria Tournament, they have 3 wins and 2 losses overall. We also asked who are some outstanding players. She said “Senior pitcher Olivia Dalley has done really well leading the team this year both defensively and offensively. Also we have a freshman, Addison Monahan who has done amazing things at first base and is now really learning how to swing”.

Next sport is boy’s tennis. The Eagle’s Eye asked Mr. Nalley, what are your goals this year? He said “We are looking to get a good amount of wins. As for the season we are just gotta get more kids out and have them perform well and better than last year. Just kind of kids having fun getting to know each other, with some games and hopefully we win the district tournament”. We also asked do you have any events or upcoming tournaments for you guys? He said “April 18th will be our district tournament with about seven teams. Gold doubles will be Joey Nguyensilver and Lucas Somoshegyi-Szokol. Silver doubles will be Basel Kurian and Randy Mattoka. our gold single Warren Naylor and our silver single will be Eric Ngo”.

Next is girl’s tennis.We asked Mr.Nicoloff what are your goals this year? He said “Tennis for this year would be to get my number one ( Sasha Tijore) to win state and at the very least do well in state”. We also asked who are your outstanding players? He said “Sasha and my doubles Erica and Cora are doing pretty good overall”.

Next sport boy’s volleyball, got 2nd place finish in the gold bracket at the Owl Invitational Tournament. Connor Monahan was selected to the All Tournament Team at the Owl Invitational.

Last sport is Track and Field. In the PUSD Track & Field Championship Kory Holbrook was 1st place in the long jump, Jaxon Zimmerman 1st place 3200m and 3rd place in the 4X800M relay, Jasmine Haskell 100m 1st place, 200m 1st place 400m 1st place and 4X100M 3rd place. 4th overall for boys and 3rd overall for girls. Due to our deadline,we did not have time to add baseball.
