What Next Semester Should Look Like at Ironwood

Many people have been wondering what is going on second semester. Next semester is going to look much different than this semester and it is important for you to understand what is going on as far as we know.

Starting next semester, most if not all classes will either be entirely online or entirely in person. The classes will not be a mix of the two, so the teachers do not have to pay attention to both the students at school and those at home at the same time. Although, there will be a few classes that will be a mix as it is not possible for them to do strictly just online or in person. This will happen if the class has only one or two periods available all day. If a teacher feels they can manage an online class and in person class, then they can also do a mix of the two if they really need to.

If you are a student that has been only doing one class in person and the rest online, this will no longer be allowed. This means that you must commit to strictly one choice, whether it is online or in person. It is asked that everyone who changes their instructional status makes their decision and fills out a change form by Friday, November 6. It is also important to know that once you make this decision you cannot change it partly through the semester. If you or your parents decide you should still stay home rather than go in person next semester, that is completely fine. The only issue there may be with this is that some classes that you may have chosen for next semester might not be available online. If this is the case, your counselor will contact you and help you change the course. Once again, you cannot change this decision in the middle of the semester.

If you plan on doing virtual learning next semester, be sure to check in with your teacher during the class period each day at the designated time, as you should be doing if you are in virtual learning now. If you have not heard the protocol already, if anyone has had any symptoms of Covid-19 they have been sent home for ten days and those students easily just go into online until they may return to school. This is going to be much more difficult next semester, as there will not be a way for students to do this. It is important for students to still get work to do while they are out.

How next semester is going to work is still a bit of a blur, but this is the information we have right now, and The Eagle’s Eye Newspaper will be sure to keep you updated Eagles.
