Mauricio Nicco Olaiz: The Bathroom Barber

Andrew Prince

Staff Reporter

Mauricio Nicco Olaiz, a very proficient young man cutting hair in bathrooms. I and my classmate Cole Richardson sat with Nicco to ask him a few questions about his haircut narrative.

The first question we asked Nicco was “What was the inspiration for your hair cutting idea?” he quickly responded with “It started with a group of friends in construction who were a little off-topic scrolling through Tik Tok and we saw some kids in the bathroom giving haircuts and it got very viral” Cole responded to Nicco’s answer“You thought you could recreate mimic or even do better than them?” as Nicco responded with “Possibly”

Nicco went off to tell us about how he learned to cut hair and his experiences with clippers during the pandemic. He learned a very hard skill in cutting hair. Nicco showed off his skills of being a youthful barber. We asked Nicco if he was going to take his hair cutting side job as a real profession he said, “I am not 100 percent” Nicco also expressed that he has a motto for his side business for hair cutting: “Get a fade or run a fade”. It is quite clever.

When asked how much he charged for haircuts he replied“The student volunteered but I told him I accepted tips. I cut his hair because he happily volunteered”. Nicco’s bold move was very brave and he has been a good sport about it. Make sure to watch out for his future because it is very bright.
