Student Instagram Accounts Attempt to Spread Positivity

Recently, it seems that there has been a lot of negative energy going around. This could be from the stress of online school, COVID-19 or any of the other major events that have happened in the past few months. I feel like everyone needs a little bit of encouragement to ease the stress and there are a few accounts going around on Instagram that are doing just that.

If you are on Instagram, I am sure you have seen some of the many anonymous Ironwood accounts that students have created. Sadly, this trend started out with accounts that were very negative and have torn people down. Although it is a great idea to have accounts that students can interact with, toxicity is not the right way to go with it. A few of the users have been taken down and some students are now working towards different accounts that spread positivity.

These accounts have been posting compliments towards many different people. There are a few different ways people have been doing this. One account, @ironwood_inspires, lets people send in anonymous shoutouts to the people they care about. This account has posted many shoutouts to different students, teachers and even staff members. The reason for this account being made was to encourage everyone and spread positivity, which is exactly what they are doing. A couple other accounts have people submit photos of others, with permission, and let others hype them up in the comments. This has helped people’s confidence skyrocket. I have personally seen a couple posts about myself on these accounts and it has made me feel a lot better recently.

The posts on social media effect people a lot more than you realize. So, piece of advice, do not post anything bad about anyone on the internet to make them upset. It does nothing but tear them down. Instead you should post something kind. If you want to boost someone’s confidence or even cheer them up, you should consider sending in a submission to the inspiration account yourself. These positivity Instagram pages are a big help with sharing good vibes and even getting rid of some the negativity that has developed these past few weeks.

Remember, we are all in this together. We might as well not tear each other down. Spread positivity through your friends, peers, teachers, and even yourself. You are all so amazing, keep it up Eagles.
