Every day, we walk around our beautiful campus and ignore the staff who work behind the scenes here at Ironwood. A teacher who works behind one of the strongest communities in school, Mrs. Wilson is the teacher who runs Student Council and runs the class Personal Finance.
Ms. Wilson has been teaching for 22 years and this was after she graduated from Ironwood back in 1993, she states “(she) was so excited to get to come home after college”. She loves Ironwood so much that she has yet to make plans of ever leaving Ironwood. When asked about the positives of Ironwood she even said Ironwood feels like a family, “both staff and students are so accepting and always willing to lend a helping hand."
Ms. Wilson with the Student Council is, as she said, “responsible for guiding the members in planning events for the school and creating a culture of positivity and fun.” Such as Mr. Ironwood.
Ms. Wilson is the youngest in her family. All seven of her siblings have all graduated within the Peoria unified school district in the high schools Peoria, Cactus, and Ironwood! Another interesting tidbit about Ms.. Wilson loves nature and the outdoors. She enjoys spending time with her friends and learning new things about the world. As another way to fill her time, she also has a lovely dog named Cooper. Her parents have also had jobs at Ironwood and even started the Booster Club at Ironwood Highschool. Ms. Wilson when she was a student at Ironwood was involved in the sport program including volleyball, basketball, softball, and she even marched in the Ironwood band as a clarinet!
To conclude this feature, The Eagle's ’ Eye would like to thank Ms. Wilson for running such a big part of Ironwood. No high school can be one without student Council and Ironwood is no exception. Thank you Ms. Wilson for all the incredible work and time you put into the school. If you see her in the hallway make sure to thank her for all the hard work she has put into the school and keep on the lookout for what she helps StuCo come up with next.
