Do you like school lunch? School lunches were invented in 1946 by the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). School lunches in 1946 contained poultry beef, and dairy products. Now the school lunch usually contains a protein/carb mash up like pizza pockets, a hamburger or pasta with milk on the side.
The school lunches in 1946 and today are free but only thought a program for today’s lunches. Most people said that the school lunch is hot but when you get the hot lunch it is usually cold; in some case it is hot.
There are two types of people; the people that have home lunch and school lunch. The people that eat home lunch think that school lunch is bad. On the other hand, people that like school lunch think it is good or too Hungry. Most kids in the U.S eat pizza, hamburger, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches etc. Kids outside of the county eat, for example, Cambodian soup, fish and vegetable stew. In China they eat corn and potatoes. In India they eat flatbread, butter, yogurt and vegetables. Indonesia, rice, mustard greens, and they eat fried eggs. These school lunches are better for kids. They are more nutritional and better for their bodies. They have tried to make school lunch healthy by using less fat making the calorie count lower. Instead of doing that, they should be making better lunches like having soup, more protein like chicken and cooked vegetation. This way the school lunch is better and tastes good. Kids will eat more, and their body can be more healthy. Think about how this meal change can affect how students think and act.
High school’s student need around 2,000 calories a day and one school meal is around 750-850. That is unequal, and some kids do not eat breakfast. So, they are walking around with no food in their stomach. Without the right food students can not learn or grow as much. The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) needs to provide better food for our students in the U.S.
