Previewing Biden's Presidential Cabinet

President Elect Joe Biden has named many of his closest advisors and as he moves into the White House, his presidential cabinet will be one of the most unique and diverse that United States has seen.

Joe Biden has commented on his diverse crew, calling them, “experienced, crisis-tested leaders who are ready to hit the ground running on day one”. According to Zach Montague at New York Times Newspaper, Biden is expected to focus foremost on one’s concern regarding public health and the U.S.’s economy when deciding positions. To start off, Kamila Harris is the first female Vice President. This decision is monumental in the fight for more female inclusion within the government. Biden has also appointed experienced women in key roles such as Secretary of Treasury, Director of National Intelligence, and U.N. Ambassador.

Biden’s cabinet also features former officials that worked under the Obama administration such as Marcia Fudge, Tom Vilsack, and Denis McDonough. Biden's cabinet choices have provided mixed opinions from the Republican Party, some have supported a smooth transition while other have had a stronger reaction. Although Biden is set on his choices and most of the key figures have already been appointed, the decision still needs to be given Senate Confirmation, which will be completed after the last senate vote on January 5th, 2021. Until then the United States will be caught in a limbo where either party could take hold of the senate.

Due to the way the courts run, if Republicans remain in power, it will become difficult for Biden's nominees to apply any of the formal changes that have been talked about. The biggest thing that we can do right now is realize that nothing is for certain and there will most likely be changes coming in the future.
