Thanksgiving is a time of family, friends and traditions. One tradition that is very common for families is watching the Macy’s Day Parade every Thanksgiving morning. Given the circumstances many people thought there was not going to be a parade this year, but it turns out, nothing can stop the Macy’s Day Parade!

This year will obviously be quite a bit different from past years due to the pandemic this year and the changes are drastic. The event usually has 3.5 billion spectators and more than 8,000 volunteers who will not work during Covid-19 and Flu season. Of course, the showing of the helium balloons, parade floats, street performers, and of course Santa Claus will still be there for everyone to see. The balloons are still going to be flown but there is not going to be any people handling them, because, according to Macy’s “an innovative, specially rigged anchor vehicle framework of five specialty vehicles”. Another thing that will be changed is there are not going to be any live performances, everyone that will be performing is recording their performances early. Additionally, the public will not be invited to the balloon inflation event the night before Thanksgiving.

Though the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade may look a little different than previous years it will still include eighteen recognizable balloons, including the infamous Snoopy, Pikachu, and the Elf on the Shelf. Along with 35 floats and six “balloonicles” on the ground, you can still watch the parade in all of its glory on Thanksgiving day on NBC and it is from 9:00a.m to 12:00pm EST.
