More Than Just A Game
"There are plenty of skills I’ve learned from playing video games. It’s more interactive than watching TV, because there are problems to solve as you’re using your brain" -Shaun White.
Shaun White has a point since he is a five-time Olympic gold medalist snowboarder, and others say video games have no benefit. At Ironwood, we disagree as we have our own ESports club here, for those who are living under rocks, ESports is competitive video gaming which ranges from games such as Rocket League to Call of Duty. In essence, ESports is more than just a club or a team, it is an eclectic group of individuals who share a love for gaming and meet each week to do just that. ESports has been run by Ms. Gray since 2020, the League of Legends team meets on Tuesdays whereas the Rocket League Team meets on Thursdays. The League of Legends team consists of Thomas, Calvin, Nick, Aaron, Eric and their supposedly deadliest player Michael, last names will not be disclosed for privacy purposes. Since they are competitive they do play against other high schools such as O’Connor and Mountain Ridge, their deadliest opponent being Night Ridge. They are currently 2-1 and will hopefully keep their losses to a minimum, who knows, ESports may become one of the most respected clubs here at Ironwood. Their prowess and dedication goes to show that the Ironwood Eagles transcend the air, land and sea and now we look to dominate the cyberverse, this also further proves that IHS is more than a school- it is a mighty furnace that forges the warriors and scholars of the next generation.
