This year’s senior assassins tournament has begun, and we already have a few eliminations. Although the school is completely online right now, we have not let that interfere with this long-lived tradition at Ironwood.
The majority of the planning and completion of this event is done through the ihsseniorassassins21 Instagram page. It begun on August 31st with 41 teams buying in with 5$ on PayPal. The rules for this are fairly simple, every week each team is assigned a target and they need to eliminate someone from the targeted team within the week. In order to eliminate someone, you need to spray them with a water gun when they do not have their safety equipment on (floaties, goggles, etc.). Once eliminated you cannot participate unless you are resurrected on the weekly resurrection night. On resurrection night, a new rule has been implemented that you cannot where safety equipment. The eliminations must be recorded and sent to the Instagram page for them to be valid. If a team does not successfully eliminate their target every two-weeks, they must sacrifice a team member. Every week there is also a Purge Night where anyone can become a target and safety equipment, as in the floaties, are not allowed.
With this year’s senior assassins a few more ground rules had to be put into place to ensure everyone’s safety, such as mandatory face masks and 6-foot distancing. But that has not stopped teams such as the BIG BODY BLASTERS and the AQUAHOLICS from taking out their first targets. While this year has been a little unorthodox, that has not stopped Ironwood students from having fun and keeping the Ironwood spirit alive.
