Ironwood Now Offers Three Free Meals a Day

The Peoria Unified School District has extended the free meal program that has been going on throughout the summer thanks to recommendations by the USDA.

In short, this means that all Ironwood students have access to free breakfast, lunch, and a take home meal beginning September 10th for all students 18 and under. Meals will be available at all the regular school lunch and breakfast times for all students who returned to school and for the students who remained on the virtual platform curbside pickup will be made available during and after school.

For those on campus the places to receive the food varies slightly depending on the meal. For breakfast, students must go to the snack bar located by the 700 building. During lunch there are two areas for students to receive their meals- the snack bar and the cafeteria in front of the auditorium. Finally, to get a hold of the after school snack students simply need to walk out the main gates and they will see cafeteria staff manning a stall where they are handing out the food.

This is a great opportunity for any after school athletes or students who want an after-school snack. According to the Peoria Unified page the USDA has the power to discontinue this at any time. To all the Ironwood population, make your way to the lunch lines and secure your free meals. The participating schools will be giving out athlete packs to any student involved in an afterschool sport or event. These services are available Monday through Friday. Lines for the after-school meal can be found by the gates that exit the school.

Teacher and cafeteria staff highly recommend that students take advantage of this opportunity. Be sure to get yours as any food that is not claimed will have no further use!
