Homecoming Celebration

As many of you know last week was spirit week and to kick-off the spirit week fun we would normally have an assembly, but this year was a little different for obvious reasons, but Stu-Co managed to pull it off.

Student Council sent out an email to all of the juniors and seniors early two weeks ago so upperclassmen could secure a spot at the Homecoming Kick-off held at the school’s football stadium. You were encouraged to get to the event early and to dress warm and wear your class colors. The event started at 6:00pm and you had to wear your mask and IDs at all times. The event kicked off with the choir and crowd singing the national anthem and then school’s alma mater. Soon after, an inspiring speech was given by our principal Mr. Dunham talking about what the rest of the semester is going to look like and congratulating all of the fall sports here at Ironwood.

In Ironwood tradition, at assembly’s various teachers and students are randomly selected to play some sort of fun and equally embarrassing game. This year the main games were Karaoke themed. Three of our teachers were voluntold to go up and sing the missing lyrics to a few popular songs, including Heather by Conan Gray and You Need To Calm Down by Taylor Swift. Student Council even got the entire Varsity Football team to sing Perfect by One Direction. Another Ironwood tradition at assemblies usually includes the school hiring a performer of some sort to entertain us. This year we had a fun fire bending circus performer. She did various flaming things to the beat of music provided by the DJ.

The last tradition to mention would have been the crowning of Homecoming Queen and King. The winners of Homecoming Queen and King are Steiner Christianson and Maria Johnson, congratulations and thank you to all of the nominees who ran for boosting Ironwood’s school spirit.

Though things may have been a bit different than the past years, the Student Council still managed to pull off a fun and entertaining Homecoming assembly and as such the following spirit week.
