Mother’s Day is coming up on May 10th! Hopefully, no one has let this chance to celebrate their mom slip their mind during this quarantine, but if you did or are looking for some suggestions this article will give you some ideas on what to do for your mom.
Some mothers sincerely appreciate more sentimental gifts. You can order photos online or with your phone through apps like the Walgreens app. They are fairly cheap as well- with 4x6 photos coming at about fifty cents. Perhaps if any of your family beside your mom is planning on going grocery shopping a small detour can be made to quickly pick up the photos. Otherwise coming together as a family and making a message board for your mom can be another great way to show you care. Message boards can have letters, drawings, important cut outs, sayings, or anything else you think they would like on there. Cardboard is a good base for message boards, but paper would do just as well.
Going out and getting flowers in the short window of time you will have before they wither by Mother’s Day may be a bit difficult. If your mom is a lover of nature, you can still give them something nice by making something using origami. It may be difficult at first, but seriously, a couple of tries and you can make a flower, crane, a gift box, or many other figures with a single piece of paper. It would be smart before starting origami project to cut out a 10x10 in. base of paper using a ruler. You can make the figures into a key chain, a hair clip, or even press them behind a photo frame if you have one.
Right now is an interesting time, which can call for interesting gifts. If you have the material, you could make your mom a nice face mask to wear. Showing her you care about her health is quite important, and making some for her whole family could ease her worries. With those same skills you can also make your mom a nice bag or pillowcase! Your mom may be using this time to catch up on some reading, movies or her favorite video games. Making her a bookmark, setting up an at-home theater, or ordering some of her favorite game merch would all make lovely gifts!
Do not forget the simple either! Making your mom a meal or baking her something can very rarely go wrong (even if you burn it, I am sure she will forgive you as long as you clean it up). Not to mention doing the chores around the house and simply behaving for the day can make a hug difference. Thank you to all of Ironwood’s mothers as well as any mothers helping their families through this time. Happy Mother’s Day!
