The Club Fair has come and gone through Ironwood High School once again!
The variety of clubs and their booths were set up at both lunches on September 7th. From Culture Club to FBLA to Christian Club, anybody can join anything. This year’s fair had a great turn-out. At both lunches there were considerably more people joining and looking at different clubs than last year. We also have some newer clubs for people to join.
ASL (American Sign Language) Club teaches those who want to learn another language that is spoken with your hands. Culture Club teaches about different cultures and their foods, clothing, music, and everything in between. We even have a Fishing Club dedicated to, well, fishing. There are still clubs that can be joined that have been around for a while. DECA is a club with the purpose of teaching young adults what it takes to build and own a business. Newspaper is a club that writes about the everyday events that occur at Ironwood and gives perspective into the world of writing freely.
There really is a club for everyone and you are encouraged to join. Not only does your dedication to an extracurricular look great on college applications and résumés, but it allows you to gain social skills, meet new people, and understand the gratification that being a part of something brings you. Find a club and try it out. It may be exactly what you need this year to learn how to thrive in areas of your life that may need practice, like your social skills or just having something to be responsible for. Joining something builds character and can make you into a well-rounded person. If clubs are not your specialty, then look into the sports that Ironwood has to offer.
There are so many options to choose from and opportunities to be had. Take the chance and you may just be surprised.
