Benny Torres-McDonald's Spicy Crispy Chicken Review

The hype has died since McDonald’s has implemented their new chicken sandwiches: the Crispy Chicken, the Spicy Crispy Chicken, the Deluxe Crispy Chicken, and the Spicy Deluxe Crispy Chicken. They were released on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 attracting chicken fanatics from all around. But now that the hype is over, they are easier to access. To be honest, this is a more entertaining food item than the McRib, which is practically school lunch. Keep in mind, this is all coming from a current McDonald’s employee and as an employee, every other item I have tasted is not as good. In this review, I am going to focus mainly on the Spicy Crispy chicken sandwich.

The day this item came out, I had to have a taste and see what all the hype was about. Of course, I got this item as a meal, including the sandwich, medium fry, and drink for $7.00 plus tax. The ingredients in the sandwich include a crispy chicken patty, the special McDonald’s spicy sauce, and two crinkle cut pickle slices, all within the warm potato cross buns. If you dislike any of the ingredients in the sandwich, you have the option to leave any of them out to suit your liking.

Now for the initial review, I loved the sandwich. It is certainly my go to item at McDonald’s because it has a “real” taste to it. Every other food item, in my opinion, has a sort of unauthentic taste to it. It tastes like if I were to take a bite of a school hamburger, something lacking flavor and taste. On the other hand, the spicy crispy chicken sandwich practically smacks your taste buds with flavorful impact and spicy goodness. The taste of the crinkle cut pickles shocked me as well. The difference between crinkle cut and regular pickles is huge. The boring old regular pickles pack only a bitter-sour taste with no significant flavor and meaning. However, the crinkle cut pickles are both sweet and sour, making such a big difference with a delicious, mouth watering flavor. Overall, the mix between the spicy sauce and crinkle cut pickles hugging the patty and topped with warm potato cross buns has me wanting more and more. I highly recommend this sandwich because this might as well be the only good thing there. It surprised me that McDonald’s was able to make something this delicious. If I had eaten this sandwich without knowing it was from McDonald’s, I would have assumed it was from somewhere better like Chick-fil-a or Popeyes.
