Behind the Scenes: Mrs. Liguori With Ironwood's Cafeteria Staff

Mathew Futch

Staff Reporter

Everyday, we walk around our beautiful campus and ignore the staff who work behind the scenes here at Ironwood. Along with these we have our loving cafeteria staff that work extra hard to keep us healthy and well.

Our staff member this time is Mrs. Liguori, she cooks the food at Ironwood during the day to make sure students are staying healthy. She also cashiers and handles some of the money.

When asked what her responsibilities are she answered with “to make sure everyone is fed and healthy. "She has been working here at Ironwood for 8 years. She said one of the biggest challenges at Ironwood is the drive. Mrs. Liguori lives near the Deer Valley district, but they were not hiring so she applied at other districts Mrs. Liguori moved all the way from Mesa and decided to attend Ironwood. She flexes her schedule to work with her and her kids.

Mrs. Liguori communicated something clearly when asked what she loves at Ironwood. Almost immediately she responds with, “students are amazing! You guys make my day everyday so easy! All the students here are so wonderful.” Following that, when asked how long she wanted to work here she responded “till I can’t, I love it here, you guys make it awesome. When they say It’s better just better here. It really is. Everyone makes it here enjoyable. The staff, the students, we are like family.” Mrs. Ligouri’s goal here at Ironwood is to one day become the kitchen manager.

Some background on Mrs. Liguori is that she is from Minnesota; while growing up she had snow. She played girl’s hockey, and before coming to Arizona she was in New York. She has 3 kids, one has graduated from Barry Goldwater, another is in high school and one is a 7th grader. She has two dogs that she named Finn and a dog named George Lucas that are both named after Star Wars characters. She also has a husband, a fact she made clear to clarify after her describing her family!

To conclude the interview with Mrs. Liguori, she is as important as every staff member that works here at Ironwood. She was a lovely, sweet lady that works here at Ironwood and I am happy to hear that she plans on continuing working here.
