The Eagle’s Eye newspaper interviewed one of many Ironwood’s math teachers, Steve Chamberlain. When we asked him about the overall purpose of the ACT, he said, “ It is a test of your general knowledge to help you get into a college, if you want to get into one.” Another reason why the ACT is important for college, it helps students get into the right learning level, and it gives a decent idea on the students’ literacy. When we asked Mr. Chamberlain on how the ACT may help students in the future, he said, “You could get scholarship money if you do well on the ACT if you go to an in-state college, but it (the ACT) is just for college purposes.” Finally, we asked Mr. Chamberlain if he thinks the ACT practices will help students for the testing in early April; to which he said, “Yes, if you study up on the types of questions that the ACT asks, then yes, you can do much better on the ACT.” Think of the practice as a review, as if you are reviewing for a class test. After the ACT testing seniors have showed a little jelously towards the practice. All in all, the ACT may not be needed by everyone, except those who plan to go to college.
