A Quick Catch-Up With Culinary Club

The Ironwood High School Culinary Club has many exciting projects going on at school this year. Mr. Langenbach explains that the culinary club as of now is doing just fine. While many clubs have struggled in the past couple of years due to COVID-19, they did as much as they could for their club during the pandemic, and are now picking it back up from last year. They have 35 students in their club, more than they have ever had, which is far more than many clubs on campus, so they are very well off this year. They have many plans to get involved around school and during school events.

Culinary can be found on campus during both lunches, at football games, and during homecoming. On Wednesdays, Langenbach says, the culinary club will be selling food during the third and fourth lunch. On Tuesdays, they prepare the food that will be sold the next day at lunch. They will be selling a large hot food item for four dollars, and a smaller pastry item for two dollars. They started off last year by selling chicken wings at lunch, but due to the pandemic, there was, unfortunately, a shortage of many foods, including chicken wings. At football games, you can find them selling pizza for the Ironwood students to enjoy.

The foods you can expect to see culinary selling this year include breakfast burritos, BLTs, pizza, scones, and other pastries. All of these sales are fundraising for competitions that will take place during the spring. They need to fundraise to cover the funds of buying the tools and items needed for these competitions. They are a part of an incentive program within their own club, where the students can level up which means earning things like knife sets to help them along throughout the time they spend within their club.

Culinary Club is doing many great things on campus, by providing students with delicious food during lunches and football games, and by continuing to fundraise to keep their club running smoothly throughout the school year. Remember to look for Culinary at lunch on Wednesdays!
