Why Batman Is the Best Superhero

Andrew Prince

Staff Reporter

Realistically in this world, we can have Batman and he would be treated as a hero. He would get good villains to fight with like the Joker, who is also a feasible character in real life. Characters like Captain America and Ironman would not be realistic in this world because they would never have villains that would be an equal match.

Batman is just the most realistic superhero, he would be accepted by society as he abides by the law, does not kill humans, and takes care of public property. Think about Iron Man, in his mission so many innocent people die and public property is greatly destroyed, we would be better off without him.

There is no need to explain this, Batman knows what criminals think. He knows everyone is not bad and that there are lots of reasons why someone becomes bad. He understands it is not that villain who is bad but the acts he does. Imagine if Captain America or Iron man faced the Joker, the result would be catastrophic for the city and yet they would not be able to clean the minds of common people.

Iron man was not a hero before he invented his suit. Batman has been a hero since his childhood. He will fight god himself knowing he is going to die, he will fight for the people even if they hate him, he will fight for the people even if he is going to lose everything . He will not give up having an ego that screams ‘I will do everything because I am a hero’ is really dangerous for society. Batman knows that he will win only when there is no need for him in Gotham, a thought like this can never be seen by other heroes.

Batman is the greatest superhero because he is believable. He does not have any superpowers, is not an alien and was not a result of some freaky lab experiment gone wrong. He is just a man. And yet he stands along with some of the strongest beings in the universe- The Justice League. There is an animated film called Justice League Doom in which Batman has a contingency plan for every superhero in the Justice League, based on their weaknesses.

More than that, every good superhero needs a good super villain. And who better than the Joker? Joker is the stark opposite of Batman, he is everything that Batman is not. This certain aspect of them both completing each other makes a lot of Batman’s stories quite interesting.

Unlike many other superheroes, Batman doesn't come under the influence of the government. He was an 8 year old boy, whose parents were brutally murdered in an alley. He grows up, based on his own will and perseverance, to be a man who stands tall among Gods, in the Justice League. This story is what makes Batman the greatest superhero of all time. He has seen his loved ones being killed by criminals. Yet while dealing with that he maintains his morality. He is truly incorruptible. In the Injustice storyline, even with the man of steel becoming a ruthless dictator and the entire Justice League submitting to him, Batman remains incorrupt and serves as a beacon of the distinction between right and wrong.

He is the world’s greatest detective, arguably in the ranks with or better than Holmes. He has taken down the entire Justice League multiple times single handedly. In some DC and Marvel crossovers, he has taken down Captain America and Hulk.

Sure he does not crack jokes occasionally, but neither would you if your adopted son was beaten to death with a rod? He has been criticized for being brutal. But his brutal methods and mysteriousness is what makes him formidable to his foes. After all, he doesn't have laser vision to scare them with.

Last but not the least, Batman is always prepared. He never underestimates his enemies and is always 5 steps ahead of them. This is why, with enough prep time, Batman can beat anyone. Yes, anyone, no matter from comics or timeline. He is the most dangerous person ever according to Superman. So, yeah. Batman is the greatest superhero of all time.
