Update on COVID-19 in Arizona

There have been many changes regarding Covid-19 in the past couple months. Many people are probably wondering how these changes are affecting us and how it will affect us in the future.

Something that not most people were quick to trust is the Covid-19 vaccine. Since it was introduced the amount of people that have gotten the vaccine has increased a whole lot. Just last month there were a little over 520,000 people who had gotten the first dose of the vaccine, now there are over 3 million. Along with just the first dose, the number of those now fully vaccinated is over 1.2 million, 1.1 million more than it was last month. As of now the vaccine is open to anyone sixteen years and older.

In Arizona, Covid-19 cases have dropped compared to previous months. For 20 days straight now, the new cases reported have been under 800 and as of April 1st 10 new deaths occurred and 381 new cases were reported according to Alison Steinbach at azcentral.com.

If you have not already, getting the vaccine may be a good idea. Thus far it is helping Covid-19 slow down a lot but the more people who receive the doses the more it will help. Along with slowing down Covid-19 there are many other pros to getting the vaccine. Obviously, after getting the vaccine it will make it so getting the virus will not happen. Although, if you get the virus that could also make you immune for some time, but this causes many issues in the process. Doing this is risky as you could give it to others, and it can cause life threatening issues for you which is why getting the vaccine is a smarter plan for protection.

An important thing that happened recently, that most heard about, is the lifting of the mask mandate. Last Thursday the mask mandate had been revoked by Governor Doug Ducey. This does not mean that masks are getting ditched. There are still places where you must continue wearing face masks which include any individual business who chooses to require them, public transportation, and government buildings. This mask mandate lift simply stated that cities can no longer require them to be worn. While not everywhere requires them, it is still suggested that people still wear masks especially in groups of those that have not gotten the vaccine.

We have come quite a long way in terms of Covid-19. It is important to be smart about your decisions to further help and hopefully this chaos will come to somewhat of an end soon enough.
