The Pros and Cons of Moving

Imagine you are in the front seat of a truck filled with boxes, and then you hug your family goodbye as you start to drive off. Whether it be in a whole new country or just next door, moving can be delightful or stressful.

At some point in our lives we are all destined to move, whether this be for a good reason or bad, it will happen. Moving is where you take most of your things from your current living situation and move to somewhere new. As an individual it is up to us how we handle the new situation of moving.

According to motivationgrid.com, “moving can be one of the most stressful times in your life. Yep, it is right up there with death and divorce. It’s hard to maintain a [good] mood toward moving when you overwhelm your mind with thoughts of [change].”

Moving is stressful, no doubt about it. Who would want to leave things behind like family and friends? But not many people realize the relief of stress when you do move. According to the same website, “the beauty of moving is its new beginnings. Maybe it’s time to take the dive and actually make that International move you’ve been dreaming about for a lifetime.” There are two mindsets in moving, a good, positive one. Then the negative Nancy one.

Many people think moving means you will never see your friends or family again but if this is true it is because there was not a strong relationship in the first place. We have cell phones in our day of age, which makes it easy to talk to anyone and everyone. New or old people can communicate across the globe. If you are not willing to put in the effort then maybe you want the whole new start, which is not always bad, a fresh start brings relief to many.

Moving can be expensive, depending on where you move or how far varies in pricing. According to moving.com, “The average cost of a local move is $1,250. The average cost of a long distance move is $4,890 (distance of 1,000 miles). These estimates are based on a 2 - 3 bedroom move of approximately 7,500 pounds.” This is pricey, but it is a one time thing that you can save up for. Moving can be important as well, especially if you are moving into a safer neighborhood. This move may put you in a little debt but you and your family will be safe then on, out of your infamous in your neighborhood now you have a new start.

To sum this up, moving is really beneficial, when it is needed. Moving can give you a lot for the little it takes away from you. If you ever find yourself moving, take a deep breathe and start thinking about all the positives. The price of moving should not be the price for your joy.
