Take It From Joleen: Gift Ideas for Mother's Day

Mother’s day is the time to show all of your appreciation for your mother figure. Moms do so much to care for you and it is important to show that support back to them. Mother’s day is coming up quick and if you cannot think of what to do then I got you with a few ideas.

As a mom nurtures and takes care of you it is only fair you do the same on this one day. There are plenty of ways one can show appreciation and it is always the thought that counts. While this may sound like something people say to young kids, it is still very much true for teenagers. A coupon book. If you have no idea what I am talking about then you must be living under a rock. I have done this for my mom in younger grades and it was very much appreciated. The main reason for this coupon book is to give your mom an opportunity to ask for things she wants. You put together a bunch of “coupons” that she can turn in for favors from you. These could be washing the car, cleaning the house, or even making dinner. Surely you could do these without being asked but what is the fun in that? This coupon book must be honored by you without question for it to work, so do not include anything you would refuse to do!

If your mother, like in most cases, is the one that makes you breakfast in the morning when you have time for it maybe it would be a good idea to make breakfast for her. It may be a bit cliché but giving her breakfast in bed would be so sweet. This would just require waking up a little earlier than usual so she is asleep while this is playing out and she can be pleasantly surprised when waking up. If you cannot cook very well, make sure to keep it simple. If that is the case looking up a recipe or maybe even a YouTube video would help a lot. You could make the basic eggs and bacon, or maybe get fancy and make an omelet. I personally could never as my cooking skills are quite bad but scrambled eggs and toast are always an easy go to.

It is always fun to make things for people on special occasions. When you make something, the recipient usually feels like a bit more love was put into the gift. Even if you are not good with crafty things, the mess ups are what make it even better and more personal. You could make a card telling how much you love her, those duct tape roses that you make on pens, or cute origami figures. Any of these would work perfectly and these definitely are not the only options. You could also paint a picture. Have fun with it and it can be enjoyable for you as well. Of course, there are always people who do not enjoy making things, so the best option there is to dig into your wallet. If you have some money then you could always buy things for your mom. Buy her favorite bouquet of flowers, a cheesy mothers day card, candy, or a trip to go to her favorite restaurant/activity.

Anything that you do to make Mother's day special will be insanely appreciated by any mom as they have done the same for you many times over. Make this day special for your mom and make sure she knows how much you love her.
