Procrastinating

Nobody wants to do their work but it has to get done, preferably sooner, or else it could cause problems with grades and mental health.

Procrastination is very common, especially among high school students. There are plenty of ways one can procrastinate, whether it is with homework, work in class, or even chores at home. All things most do not want to do but that are necessary to get done. If you end up not completing certain things at school your grades can plummet down and not many teachers will take late work lightly. Since it causes so many issues, nobody likes or wants to procrastinate but I know it is difficult to stop this bad habit.

The most important thing that usually helps is giving yourself small tasks at a time. This is so you do not overwhelm and over work yourself by getting fifty different missing assignments done at once. It will only cause more stress. Instead of getting everything done at one time, slim these tasks down. If there is an essay that you need to get done the same day you started, give yourself a better mindset. Instead of thinking about having to get the whole essay, think that you will make an easy outline and fill that out and then rewrite it. It will give your brain less stress and it will not seem like such a difficult task anymore.

That idea goes hand in hand with the idea that you need to do the most important things first. If you have a ton of late work that you need to get in, maybe do the ones that have been missing the longest first. Doing this will give you less work at once while also getting your priorities set straight. Or, if you have a ton to finish that is due the same day, do the ones that are worth most points first. Although this may make other assignments late, it is better to have the assignments that will affect your grade the most first.

I am personally always procrastinating, so telling others to not procrastinate seems hypocritical, but I want to help others where I can not help myself. So if you struggle with this issue I hope this can help you at least a little bit, just remember that if you are trying your best it will be okay. Do not stress yourself out and carry on doing the best you can.
