In times of great boredom and stress, people turn to movies and shows to distract themselves from the anxieties of the world around them. Just like every other month in the year, streaming services are putting new content out for the masses to watch.

Netflix is putting out a large number of shows and movies to help combat the overwhelming boredom at hand. On May 1st, the Back to the Future franchise is going onto the streaming service, as well as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Those are two classics every family is sure to love and create fond memories off. Another movie going onto Netflix is the movie The Half of It. The movie follows a teen girl named Ellie Chu who writes a love letter for a jock. Throughout the film, she becomes friends with the jock and begins to crush on his crush.

Hulu also has a number of new shows coming onto the streaming service. The Dark Knight is joining the already extensive list of films as well as countless others. The Dark Knight is a film in the Batman franchise directed by Christopher Nolan, which also stars the late Heath Ledger. The movie follows the story of the Joker wreaking havoc on the city of Gotham. Although this movie is widely known, it may also not be appropriate for children.

The more family geared streaming service Disney+ is welcoming new episodes for fan favorite shows like The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Disney Family Sundays. Movies going on include Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Both movies are family friendly and are sure to be a hit with the entire family. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil follows the story of the original movie, Maleficent. In the movie, Maleficent fights a war against Aurora’s mother-in-law to save the land where she is from. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker going onto Disney+ will unite all nine Star Wars movies for the first time.

In such an uncertain time using TV shows and movies to escape the conditions of the world is appealing. With Netflix, Disney+, and Hulu putting new shows out throughout the month, there are plenty of options for people to choose from.
