Haunted Houses Around Arizona

Halloween is just around the corner and nothing gets me in the spooky season spirit more than a haunted house. Though, due to COVID-19 much of the Halloween festivities have been canceled. Despite all the cancelations many of Phoenix’s haunted houses are opening this year.

To be more specific, two of the most popular haunted houses Fear Farm and the 13th Floor are already open and tickets are selling fast. The Denver-based 13th Floor Entertainment Group is taking many precautions while setting up this year’s haunt. One of the many precautions they are taking is having the scare actors wear masks that fit in with their costumes and, of course, guests have to wear masks and try to social distance as often as possible. According to their websites, https://www.13thflooraz.com/ and https://www.fearfarm.com/, they are taking it to the next level and are going above and beyond their normally safe and distanced methods of operation. You could definitely say that they are going to infinity and beyond with their safety precautions.

While this year many things are changing, the haunted houses are staying constant. Some of Fear Farm’s most notorious haunts are returning. The haunted corn maze, the houses themed as Fallout, which is the resident post-apocalyptic theme, and the Bunker, the well-known alien theme, will be returning to Fear Farm for another year.’ This year at the 13th Floor they have all new attractions, The Dead-End District and Deadly Reflection. While the Dead-End District mainly deals with zombies, Deadly Reflection refers to one of the many versions of the legend of Bloody Mary. This version of the legend makes Mary out to be a nomad on the hunt for a mirror which possesses the power of knowledge, wealth and riches to those who look inside of it. Nevertheless, there was a trick to it: only those with kind souls could be granted the powers. Mary, not a nice person, got trapped in the mirror. The creators put a very interesting spin on the legend that makes it very COVID-19 friendly so that guests can get the pants scared off them in a safe and sickness free manner.

The haunted attractions have set up precautions in order to protect both scare-actors and patrons who would like to attend. Although some of this year’s Halloween might be a little different than ones in previous years, there are still ways to have spooky fun with friends, family or whoever would like to go.
