With one week before Halloween left there was only one option for this installation of Film Forecast there was only one choice.

The Halloween classic The Addams Family features the Addams family from the animated classic show. The family consists of parents Gomez and Mortia, then children Wednesday and Pugsley, and last but not least Grandmama and uncle Fester. Fester is Gomez’s brother, and in this film he is supposed to have left after an argument with Gomez. When he ‘returns’ Gomez is overjoyed but little does he know that gomez is actually not gomez. The movie follows the storyline of that and without giving too much away i must say it is quite a ride.

Arguably the best part of this movie is Mortia. Between her wonderful costume design, and the aesthetic that follows her. While all of the characters have a certain vibe Mortia’s is perhaps the best shown through the films. It is heavily showcased by the lighting that makes her appear pale and her eyes seem spooky. That effect also turns attention quickly to her.

Another epic character from this is Wednesday. While she is an alternative icon she has several funny scenes during the film. For instance she shocks pugsley at one point while having a casual conversion. It also helps that she has no emotion and talks in a very montone voice even while saying funny lines or lines that make you think “wait, what did that child just say?”

Wednesdays fashion during the film is also something that has become an icon. The simple black dress with white collar has become a staple for Halloween and spooky pictures. The braided black pig tails also make it as super easy and achievable with minimal effort Halloween costume.

Another strikingly interesting character is Gomez. In one scene where he is playing with the trains the actor did a phenomenal job with showing him in a more manic, crazy light. Even for the Addams family it was strange. It also has a somewhat childish nature to it that pared with some of the other things within the film then feels weird to watch but it by itself is not a bad scene.

From a Disney fan's perspective it is also pretty cool the house looks like the Haunted Mansion. The house even has a graveyard of previous residents. It is actually very similar to the mansion as it has a playful yet spooky vibe. I never fail to be interested in the house and wonder what is going on in other scenes or wonder just how expansive the house is.

I highly suggest the film if it is a light hearted movie you are looking to watch. The next instalment of Film Forecast will not be as lighthearted as a movie but I am actually quite looking forward to the review of it so be on the lookout.
