Costume Ideas for Halloween

Hayley Kilday

Staff Reporter

As many of you know Halloween is a week away and due to COVID-19 social distancing and masks are a must. However, the fun must go on! If you do not have a costume already, here are some fun and spooky ideas.

Whether you are going the scary and bloody route or the goofy and fun route somehow incorporating a mask that covers your nose and mouth could be quite difficult. If you are going down the fun and fancy-free route many people are making their own space suits and are being their own Among Us players. This includes a full-face mask and a full suit and gloves, so the costume in itself is very COVID-19 friendly. Even if you go down the blood and gore route you could do classic characters from older horror movies, like Jason Voorhees, Freddy Kruger, and Michael Myers all of which are COVID friendly with full-face masks and some form of gloves.

Those who are at home may also have some more time to finally complete that DIY Halloween costume they have been wanting to try.

However, no matter what kind of costume you decide on for your Halloween adventures please prioritize safety, so if you feel even just a little under the weather or anything of that sort, stay home. Even if you do not go out, there are always other options to do at home. You could always have a Halloween movie marathon, if you have cable there is always thirteen nights of Halloween on freeform. It is a marathon of children's Halloween movies on the days leading to the spookiest night of the year. If you do not feel like sitting down and watching movies you can always put them on in the background and possibly do some Halloween inspired crafts or bake some Halloween goodies. You can find a lot of ideas for baked and crafted goodies at any local convenience store near you, usually near checkout the Better Homes and Gardens magazines never fail to supply you with crafts and recipes for themed baked goods.
