The marching band had a very successful season this year. As many know, most things last year were canceled; the marching band was included. Thankfully, the band had a second chance at a productive, successful year, and it went great.
This year, as many know, the band performed their show Shine Through. The show was performed at the home football games at halftime and pre-game for away games. The hard work and dedication put into this performance were clear. The effort and commitment that each participant had to make the show great are inspiring. The band had put in many hours of work each week to prepare for the competition season. Performing at the football games also gave more preparation for this as most of the band has not even been a part of a competition season until this year.
The competition season went amazingly, it could not have been better, especially based on certain circumstances. Throughout the season the band placed and scored very well. The band even made it to the State Championships which no other Ironwood band has ever done before, placing fifth in division two. This was an amazing accomplishment, and the band could not have asked for more.
Though the season went pretty smoothly there were some bumps in the road. The outbreak we had hit the band hard, but that did not stop them from going on to Semi-State and giving it their all. Even with twenty-five percent of the band missing, the teamwork that was used had gotten them through it. This dedication brought the band to state. Not only the band members themselves but the whole community drove us to where the band is now. This would not have been possible without every single person that put in the effort.
It is incredible how the marching band persevered through everything this year. If it was not for every member putting all they had into each rehearsal, then this would not have been possible. It is questioned what the band is going to do next year. Whatever it is it will surely be amazing.
