A Quick Review of Gay Future

Crazy. Chaotic. Funny. Creative. Gay Future is a fictional comedy podcast that I picked up on one of my various ventures through my Spotify podcast recommendations. For something as satirical and silly as a world where everyone is gay and heterosexuals are discriminated against, Gay Future has a very fleshed out and deep story. The main plot of the story follows Mikey, an awkward teenager who is the hero of a prophecy that would end the gay agenda.

If you do not like spoilers I suggest you leave now, for I am going to be talking about major plot twists and characters.

In my opinion, Mikey is a quality protagonist and character. In the beginning, he is very uncertain about what he is doing and what he wants. Once he finds out that he is the lost son he becomes determined to hone his skills and defeat the President. Despite the prophecy backing him, Mikey still shows fragile parts of his character; he cares a great amount about the new friends he makes and is gullible to manipulation like everyone else is.

One thing I found interesting was the sacrifice he made for his friends when he surrendered to Clay Aiken, the President, to protect them. Mikey knew that doing that would finalize Clay’s plan of ending the prophecy and make everyone gay, yet he still surrendered himself for his friends because he valued them over the entire world.

My favorite character from this podcast has to be Chad, even though the name already describes his personality, it is the absolutely dumb things he says and does that make him my favorite. Chad has a thing for Tristan, a boy whose only sense is hearing, and he is extremely obvious about it throughout the entire podcast and it is hilarious. He and Tristan do get together eventually, but that ended when everyone found out Chad was working for Clay. Another thing I like about Chad is his voice, it is very frat boy sounding yet it is high pitched, which contrasts with his “masculine” personality.

Gay Future is definitely something I would recommend if you are looking for a laugh. You can listen to the podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Google Play.
