2020 Zoolights

Victoria Harkless

Assistant Editor-In-Chief

In 2020 getting into the Christmas spirit has been hard for many people, but one way to encourage the Christmas spirit while staying safe is driving around looking at Christmas lights.

There are many options for looking at lights, but one that people of all ages are interested in is Zoolights at the Phoenix Zoo. According to the Phoenix Zoo’s website (PhoenixZoo.org) you can walk it for about twenty dollars for anyone over the age of three. If you choose to walk the zoo there are some requirements, such as you are required to wear a mask when social distancing is not an option. That qualifies as when you are within six feet of someone not in your household or within your group. There is a link for if someone in your family is medically exempt, that can be found here https://www.maricopa.gov/DocumentCenter/View/61311/Regulations-on-Face-Coverings .

You can also drive the Zoo to do all of the fun festivities . That ticket is seventy five dollars for a car. Masks are still suggested and you may be asked to leave if you do not comply but that goes for both events. You can also buy things like hot chocolate, cookies, kettle corn, water, and soda for another charge.

While these events are held on different nights they are running from November seventh to January thirty first, on their designated nights and go from 5:30-10:30 PM. You must purchase the tickets in advance online at the Phoenix Zoo’s website, which is PhoenixZoo.Org.

On the website they also have a schedule of when Cruise nights are and when Walking nights are. It is crucial to look at that when planning because you will not be allowed to do it unless it is on a permitted night.

This year Zoolights features its millions of lights, along with animal sculptures, and their wildlife nature safari that shows off sixty six creatures. Those creatures include polar bears, mammoths, peacocks, and many more.

It is great for people of all ages, and is a wonderful way for people to get in the Christmas spirit in a safe and relatively normal environment.
